I am presently reading "Reverse Parkinson's Disease" by John Pepper. He is using brain training to treat his condition successfully. Has anyone read this book and tried his method?

I have since given his book away.

We do know the importance of EXERCISE, however do NOT forget that at the very early stages Pepper was put on the medication of SELEGILINE. Both the "datatop and "adagio" trials suggest that MAO-B like selegiline and rasagiline may slow down the progression of PD. This is not to take away from John's decision to exercise and to think positively.

I would read THE BRAIN'S WAY OF HEALING by Norman Doidge M.D. Keep up the exercise and try B1 hcl.....nothing to lose and all to gain.

Lots of previous posts. You can do a search on the forum. Mr Pepper doesnt have ideopathic PD which I have so I dont expect the same results.

Idiopathic means "No known cause" . Are youm telling me that you know, or somebody knows the cause of my Pd? This argument that is regularly thrown at by a medical people, in order to make other patients thisnk I don't have 'Normal" Pd. I have normal Pd and when Im wrote my book, many years after I was diagnosed I cannot remember what type of Pd I have.

I assume you are a medical person and your aim is to stop people believing I don't have Pd and therefore should not listen to me. Not is that untrue it is misleading patients, who would otherwise have possibly tred the fast walking.

Are you aware that the Mayo Clinic ran a study on High intensity aerobic exercise, which fast walkig is, produces GDNF and BDNF in the brain and reverses Pd symptoms.

So what I am claiming has been medically proven to be correct.

I will accept your apologies for your ignorance!

Not sure what your problem is. I am only quoting you and what you wrote on here after your last neuro visit.

I would think it ois obvious! I want to put an end to this pssyfooting around.

Whatever form of Pd I have, is immaterial. My symptoms are very real, since I have been unableto do the fast walking. That might make you happy, whereas you might be disappointed!

Everyone with Parkinson’s has different symptoms, progresses at a different rate, a ‘designer disease ‘ . John Pepper may have treated his symptoms but what works for him may not work for others . I think you have to find what works for you . 😀

I know everyones PD is unique but quite simply put Ruff it hasn't worked for others. J P cannot point to one other success story ie reversed P D, with fast walking.

Please keep in mind that the name “Parkinson’s” is actually an umbrella term, for several ailments. A better way of thinking, that helps me, is that “Parkinson’s” is a neuro-degenerative Disease, that has several meanings to it. Neuro-degeneration in the substantia nigra area of the brain is where this disease usually starts, according to research papers published. The neuro-degeneration spreads differently, with each person, and that’s why each person’s PD is unique, just like each snowflake is unique. Misfolding of synuclein, within the substantia nigra, causing neuronal destruction etc., can occur in smaller or larger areas, and may or may not advance at a faster rate, according to some research papers. I don’t know if the process is completely understood. I do know that this would be a plausible explanation for the difference in progression with so many PWP. Some people are very lucky, and have only mild symptoms, and can live relatively normal lives most of the time. Others can be debilitated, after 5 to 10 years, and, as I said before, each PWP has the disease in a unique way, depending upon the course of neuro-degeneration, in the brain. There are many theories and studies written about either reversing, or stopping the progression of Parkinson’s. Whether any of these have been proven to be effective, in scientifically controlled studies, remains to be seen, but researchers are working all the time on hoping to find a way to prevent or stop neuro-degener ative diseases in the brain. Participating in a case study, is an interesting way to help researchers, for those diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

JOHN PEPPER IS MY HERO! After my diagnosis in early 2015, a friend with Parkinson’s recommended John’s book. It gave me such comfort and hope. I’ve had two knee surgeries and haven’t been able to do his fast walking regimen, yet. But I WILL do it in the future. I am currently on no PD meds because of the side effects. I seriously believe that we have more power over what ails us than we realize. With good nutrition, exercise, and positive thinking, we can reverse things.
