I had a Doctor tell me that as long as you take them only for pain you will not get addicted. Is that true?

that sounds like bull to me!!!! My sister in Australia has been on opiates for back pain for years and she is definitely addicted!!!!

I think that even if you are taking it for pain, you need to be careful.

I had shoulder surgery and the surgeon gave me enough Percocet to numb the entire town. I tried one but all it did was make me feel sick. Docs over prescribe pain meds. Take as little as you need to be comfortable. The less you need the better. Also if you have REAL pain, take the lowest effective dose BEFORE you are in pain. You want to manage it, not feel numb for a short time.
