Hi everyone I’ve got a appointment Wednesday and apparently a operation then on Thursday due to a fistula my question is will I still need to operation now the fistula is closed and all the stuff leaked out it did leave a hole but it’s now closed

It’s a anal fistula

I guess wait and see what the doctor says. If it doesn’t go to another organ or to the skin and is now closed they may leave it but only a doctor can make that assessment. I have one also that goes from the small intestine to the colon and it is now closed as well so they are leaving it but monitoring it. If it should go to another organ or to the skin I think they would do something about it.

Let us know what they decide after you see the doctor again.

Yes mine is to the skin from the bowl to the skin

If that is the case I would suspect they may still want to do the surgery for fear it could open up again, but again I am not a doctor and you will have to wait and see what his/her assessment is. Good luck and I hope all goes well for you.

I thought that may end up being the case but it will be good to have it looked after and then you won’t have to worry about it reopening.. Thanks for letting us know. Good luck and I hope and pray all goes well with the surgery.
