Problems with Mesalazine

Hello. I was diagnosed with UC 5 years ago and put on 4000mg a day and 3 suppositories a week. I don’t feel well with water retention and ITI’s. My calprotectin test is 8. Could Pentasa cause my symptoms?

I was taken off Pentasa after 3 years of mesalasine because my kidney function was showing problems. Do you have blood tests from time to time so it can be monitored?

Hi I take mesalazine, never had issues with water retention tho'. Maybe talk to your GP.

So sorry but I stopped taking it over a year ago and feel no worse so can’t advise I’m afraid. Good luck

Can I ask you why you stopped taking it please? For the past week, I’ve dropped the dose from 4mg to 2mg. I have not noticed any difference but it is early days.
