Hello everyone, I am new here (just joined December 2018).

I was diagnosed with UC in July 2018, just 3 days before moving to South Korea. Thus, everything is still very new and I am having trouble finding support here (due to the language barrier and cultural differences).

I am currently using Pentasa suppositories.

We just got married (14 December 2018) and my husband is really supportive of my condition and tries his best to help me where ever he can. However, everything is new to us both.

The main reason for joining is: We plan to start a family soon. So I really need to get this UC under control and need support and advice on how to navigate pregnancy and UC.

Hi Black Flower. Korea sounds like an exciting adventure. With UC you may find you have flair ups and periods of remission. I was lucky enough to have really supportive doctors through my pregnancy ( was 20 years ago) who saw me weekly!

Think the thing is in preparation is to try to get as healthy as you can before. I know with UC that’s easier said than done. Make sure you take a good probiotic ( like VSL3) I would also try kimchi as you are in Korea. It’s fermented veg and is supposed to be amazing for helping with your gut microbiome. I’m going to attempt to make it this week!

Lots of good literature on getting a healthy gut. Really think this helps. If you want any more information message me. Glad to help.

Thank you so much for the message and tips. I married a Korean so plan to live here for the rest of my live (plenty of kimchi dor me ;) It is just difficult finding English doctors where I am and then trying to find one that specializes in UC and pregnancy. I will keep looking.

Yes, it is my plan to first find the doctors and get healthy (finding a dieet that works for me) before starting to get pregnant.

Good luck with the kimchi!
