UC = Ulcerative Colitis. There are varying degrees of UC but as far as I've ever know they are all colitis. I have some knowledge and experience around UC as I had a severe fulminating case that was resolved by a total proctocolectomy with a j-pouch (ileoanal anastomosis) built in 2007.

Colitis is just a general term for inflammation of the colon in the same way as hepatitis is a generic term for inflammation of the liver. Ulcerative colitis is a specific form of colitis and is an autoimmune condition characterised by ulceration and inflammation of the colon.
