So after 4 years of pain I have finally been diagnosed with 'mild crohns'. Had a endoscopy the beginning of this year and being sent for MRE and possibly a capsule endoscopy too. Does anyone have any tips of trying to pin point your triggers, I've been keeping a food diary lately but can't see much connection as to what could be triggering my crohns as I can eat a certain food one day and be fine then eat it another and be in horrendous pain. I've also been put on Pentasa but the tablets are ginormous, you can apparently dissolve them in water but when I did the grains just sat at the bottom of the glass - does anyone know if you can get Pentasa in a powder form or smaller tablets?

You can get Pentasa in granule form which you are supposed to pour onto your tongue then wash them down. I usually float mine on a little liquid and swish them back. I did once get the huge pills and tried dissolving them - not easy!

Some people say the weather affects them extreme heat and cold. I find the hot weather dosnt agree with me. Also trying to pin point foods is difficult that’s why often people follow particular diets to see if that helps. I follow gluten free myself. It really is crazy because different things affect different people. I’m on Humira and also cbd oil. The cbd oil has been a massive game changer for me. It has practically got rid of my awful fatigue. Yet it might not help other people. Quality of the oil is so important plus there are different strengths and you also need to be aware of dosage.

Hi. My daughter has Crohn’s in the oesophagus which means her oesophagus is completely ulcerated. Wondering what the cbd oil is and what it’s used for. She is on a liquid diet most of the time and started on Humira this week in another effort to reduce ulcers. She also has IBD.

Hello Grace,

I hate to say this, but welcome to the club. Crohn’s is a complicated disease, because each patient experiences it differently. You should generally stay away from anything that you think would cause you problems, never try new food out of the comfort of your home ... trust me you want to be a walking distance from your bathroom when you do try something new. Try seeing a nutritionist and show them your food diary, they might help you with a diet that matches you.

Good luck and remember, you always have your IBD family here to support you.
