Another week done - now the scary one begins...

Today I completed week 4, I was scheduled to finish up on Saturday which would have nicely had me starting W5 today but as I finished up on Thursday I had a cramp-like pain in the back of my right calf so thought the better of it and rested on Saturday (well went swimming in my gyms ice-cold pool).

Tackled W4R3 today and despite being as tomato-faced as ever didn't seem to be heaving for breath quite so much as I was last week. Week 5 starts on Wednesday eek. I know you're not really meant to read/listen ahead but there's not really any getting away from that big, scary run at the end of the week. Also as I shamefully haven't made quite as much progress with the outdoor running as I'd hoped it's looking like it'll be 20 minutes on the hamster wheel in the gym (though given the forecast that may turn out to be a blessing yet...) so am going to have to find a way of keeping my mind entertained while I'm "running" for that 20 minute period.

I'll update again as the week progresses...

Another good job done... and you wisely chose to 'rest' at the weekend. I've been plagued by a mid-back ache for the last couple of weeks, but have just started swimming again (backstroke) and it's clearing up, just in time for that scary one...

Happy running.

Hi con-brio, best of luck with the scary run! I'll be glued to the blogs scouring for pointers! Hope it goes well!

Good luck! Considering the weather, maybe the treadmill is a good idea for now. Boring though! Hope it goes well for you.

This site seems to be very hard to post to earlier in the evening, but seems to have settled down again now.

Thanks Greenlegs, worried that not having anything to distract from plodding is going to make it seem an extra long 20 mins, I'm sure I'll think of something in time, might try sticking the kindle in front of me! Or try to get interested in breakfast tv...

The Gateway Run awaits!

It's scary but you'll both do it, if you've been reading these pages for a while you'll know that everyone fears it to some degree or other but two things you should know, your body has been conditioned over the last few weeks to cope with it, now you need to get your mind around it, I'm sure you will. Also the prize (and therefore the encouragement) is that once you've done it (and even if it takes more than one attempt, so what?) you KNOW you can do the 30. It's not easy but it's the run that proves you can do it.

Thanks Fingalo, know it's mind over matter and know that every C25Ker has had the same reservations, going to start the mental preparation today!

Trust in the Plan! Laura says it all the time and it's easy to dismiss it but really Trust in the Plan and you'll crack it.

If someone had said to me 2 months ago that I would be running, proper running for 20 minutes plus I would have not believed them.

Good Luck.
