Back with Laura

After abandoning Laura for my last three runs, with mixed degrees of success, I decided that maybe I'd better get back to business.

Despite finding the music dire and Laura's chirpy slightly patronising voice sometimes intolerable, I decided that it's too easy to give in and "just walk for a minute" with out the structure.

So, W6R1. Because the low temperature has effected my middle aged asthmatic lungs so badly in the past I wore a buff over my nose and mouth. I felt like I was my face was in a steam room and looked like a ninja, but it seemed to work. First run without Ventolin for a few weeks.

When looking at the Runkeeper graph afterwards, I couldn't tell the difference between the running sections and the walking bits, there seems to be no difference in speed. Any slower and I'd be going backwards!

So on to W6R2. Probably after work on Tuesday.

Ahem.. hope I'm not interrupting anything here... (LOL)

Just wanted to say you're not alone with the same running/walking pace. I even wrote a blog a while ago about any slower I'd be going backwards. But that's ok because we can always work on our speed later if we want. Keep it up and good luck.

Thank you TX, I'm glad I'm not the only one who's hardly moving :-)

You certainly are not! There's quite a team of plodders. I went through the whole programme hardly moving, but at last, after graduating, I'm now finding that occasionally I can go a bit faster. It was well worth all that trudging along. Probably better for our legs too. :)

Shufflers rule!

Nice smooth, efficient, low impact stride (yeah, in my dreams, but it gets me round)

I do out and back runs (W8R1 today) and have been using Laura to find the points to end the warm up and turn half way through the run phase for the first one of the week, then I do the others without if I'm in the mood

That's a much nicer way to describe it than plodding: "smooth, efficient, low impact stride". Yup, that's definitely how I move. ;)

I too am a shuffler, I can't go much faster or I get exhausted and have to stop!

I do feel the cold effects my pace too, especially as it has such a big impact on my lungs :-(

I've seen some people moving so "efficiently" I think they were actually asleep. Not that it matters; they're out there!

Hopefully, as my eyes are open, I don't look comatose ;-)

I run very slowly too, such is life x
