but I did it. at no time today did it feel easy. I couldnt seem to settle into any kind of rhythm & so it seemed such hard work, especially that very last mile. probably cause in my head my demons just kept shouting "stop". what a difference from my 5miles on saturday. I thoroughly enjoyed that run & could have kept going when I stopped.
Im a little disappointed as I was really looking forward to todays run, but have to hold my head up high cause I did it. time was 2hrs 40.46mins. not the fastest of times but I do now have something to beat in my real 13.1miles race. hehe race!!! theyll be packing up by the time I get to the end.
anyways, thanks for letting me have a moan. have spent the afternoon cleaning out daughters no 1s big bedroom (as she reckons shes moved out now & only ever comes home for clean clothes) & moving daughter no 2 into it, who has the tiniest room & is at home all the time. am absolutely knackered, have a glass of wine ready & am looking forward to a "power nap".
happy running shelley x

OMG I can only imagine what the sense of achievement must feel like even if a little deflated let yourself smile
I bow down to you Shelley! I know you're not happy with the run, but look at your time and distance...FANTASTIC to say the least!!!! Enjoy that very deserved glass of wine! Gayle
That's a fantastic achievement (& one I'm aiming for myself). I was chatting to a more seasoned runner the other day who reassured me that he only did 11 miles in the build up to his half marathon but on the day the crowd got him through the last couple of miles, the atmosphere will probably do wonders for you too, and now you KNOW you can do it!
Well done. It would have been so easy to give up as it wasn't going so well. I've just downloaded these running music podcasts off itunes hoping these will help me keep to to a nice rhythm. Previously I used my own music which would go from a fast track to a slow track as and I never had the time to sort it out properly.
thanks all. have got up this morning feeling very awake but still a bit achey no more long runs til the big day ~ Yah ~ so will be taking it easy & eating well
Wow!!! That is amazing. Here I am patting myself on the back with around 10k then I read this. Fantastic stuff. I am really impressed shelley and wish you all the luck in the world with the real 13.1 miles (20k-ish?) James
