almost avoided, but got in the machine and went. Had minor pain back of right leg above calf, but finished anyway. I dont seem to have any injury,so must have been just my muscles screaming at me! I also changed abit my technique and tried to run more on the balls of my feet, not sure if correct, but im trying to avoid landing hard on the heel.

and on to next week...

Well done for not avoiding!

What works for me (but might not for you) is landing almost on flat feet - sort of the middle of the foot. (Try a search on Chi running or barefoot running for more info.) And going very slowly. Boring to keep going on about it, but everything I read about beginning running says the commonest mistake it to start out too fast.

Once I'd slowed down, it was so much more manageable, and, touch wood, I haven't had any injuries, and I managed 31 minutes for the run before my last one.

Every run i do i seem to have some sort of ache, pain or tightness but like you i dont have an injury and it seems to ease off (or i forget all about it) by the end of the session so i reckon it's just my body complaining/protesting at the new regime! I, like greenlegs, find landing flat footed helps and stops any pulling on my calf muscles. Just go at your own pace - we can do this!!

Thanks for the comments! Helps me a lot.

About landing flat footed, I will look it up, but is it a ball to flat or heel to flat...does that make sense?!? Will have to watch some more running technique videos!

Also I think I may be going too fast, we will see after this weekend.
