Would somebody please turn the wind off!

This morning was my easy run, or rather it would have been easy if it hadn't been for a rather stiff North wind which came howling at me as I ran along the coast. It was so hard to run in I'm ashamed to admit I gave in and walked... Then suffered cramping in my calf muscles, which I'm told is due to lactic acid pooling. I have no idea if that's true or not but it disappeared once I ran again so won't worry about it too much.

Running back was quite funny though, the wind pushed me so hard I was running much faster than I was comfortable with & must have looked rather comical. It was, as I later described to my husband, as if "Some big men were taking turns to push me".

Anyway it was 8.8km according to my calculations, at wildly varying pace. 10km is within my sights, I feel confident I can do it - windy conditions aside, I'm loving these easy paced longer distance runs. Still find my 'Speed' runs hard though but will plough on with them as I need variety in my training, in awe of those who blog they enjoy Speed.

Cheers to all c25kers out there, whatever stage you're at. :-)

I'm with you in loving the long, easy runs and find fast intervals hard work. I, too, keep plugging away with them trying to do a little more each time.

That wind sounds pretty strong! I could just imagine you hurtling along, being buffeted by the gusts!

@swanscot, I think I'm built for comfort not 'Speed'... ;-)

@greenlegs, I must have looked hilarious - I'm only a wee lass so not much resistance there, still it always helps to laugh at oneself IMO. :-)
