Been bad, but feel fantastic...10K achieved.

Well I went out for my weekly long easy run today. I should have only run for 8.8K today if i stuck to my newish rule of no more than 10% increase per week, but as my fellow runners, you will know we can all sprout advice, but sticking to our own advice is more difficult.

So I feel bad for breaking my own rule ;-) but fantastic as I managed to run 10K for the first in my life :D in just over an hour :D

I can guarantee I will not add distance next week, I plan to run a couple more 10Ks as long easy runs before trying to get my time down below an hour.

Good work! That 10K mark is like a magnet and as soon as you get anywhere near it draws you in! Enjoy a rest next week and let all that training sink in.

in reply to walney

Definitely going to take it easy and give my legs a rest this week

Well done Phil72 I did the same today - hit that magic 10k mark. How do you get your garmin activity to upload on here?

in reply to morningglory

Congrats, feels good doesn't it.

On the garmin site i make sure my activity is showing as public, I then access the activity and then copy the full URL from the address bar and paste it into my blog

Yet another 10k first-timer!! See my post for further details. Right about the 10k magnet too, walney. Brilliant feeling even if I am just slightly achy.

Great time you're achieving, glad that B210K is working for you.

Ha ha!! There was me only today saying to someone how I followed your advice and so was doing the B210K over 9 weeks rather than 6 so as not to overstretch myself.... :D We all do it though so will let you off ;)

What a fantastic achievement though Phil! Why not go for it if you feel you can; I would do the same though that might be a good while off at the moment, magnet or no magnet :O Enjoy being very smug, you earned it!!

Fantastic phil, well done! :-)

Cheers, hope everything at home is sorting its self out and your snatching time for the odd run

Well done you must feel great! After all we've said on here about gradual training I still think sometimes we're just up for it and got to go for it while we can. Was a bit naughty myself yesterday, did parkrun on a rest day & then jogged another couple of miles to meet my husband, just because I felt pretty good. Truly there must be something in the air! ;-)

I totally agree :-) or the water!

Well done Phil! I'm surprised that the wind didn't pick you up and blow you along that seafront :-)

I'm now waiting to start my 3rd "comeback" of the year..... but the end of the flu has brought on a cough and still a bit of shortness of breath, so I guess I'm still looking at another week before I can see what the fitness damage is (30 mins of Stepping Stones will be the target first time out).

I think you'll be surprised and have not lost very much fitness, enjoy getting out there again :-)

Very well done Phil! You really should listen to your own advice, oh, heck with it! YOU ROCK!!! :-) Gayle

in reply to gdeann

Cheers Gayle, I will be good for a couple of weeks, promise!

Well done Phil. Yep another 'Don't do as I do, do as I say'. I too, have overshot the 10% increase just because I felt I could. That 10K is such a draw, isn't it?

in reply to swanscot

Cheers, just looked at your last blog and I'm so jealous ;-) of the locations you get to run in, unbelievably beautiful.

Well done, Phil. I can well understand you continuing beyond the 8.8! How could you possibly stop then if you were feeling OK?! What a star!

Hope to start my B210k training this week. (Hopefully, today).

Happy running. Sue

in reply to Soozz

Cheers Sue, hope you've started and all went well.

Rats! Haven't started yet. The weather's been 'inclement' - unexpected snowfall yesterday and just horrible today with sleet, snow and howling gales. Maybe tomorrow?... I've got the podcast downloaded and am ready to go!

well done! You did that in a very good time, too :-) 10K is just soooooo seductive, who can resist ;-)

in reply to vixiej

Very....but now it's done I can ease off the distance a little.
