I graduated in early December and over the Christmas period I was running about once a week and despite running for 30 minutes that elusive 5k seemed just out of my grasp. Today I ditched Laura for the first time but I did have the runkeeper lady telling announcing my time and distance every 5 minutes. After 30 minutes I had got to 4.4k so I included my cool down walk and when Runkeeper clicked to 5.00k I felt like Mo Farah must have felt at the Olympics except there was just me grinning like a madwoman and silently cheering myself. I know some of you can get to 5k in 30 minutes but I know lots of us can't but wanted to share that feeling of achievement with you, guess I'll be grinning like a cheshire cat for the rest of the day.

Next step- running the whole 5k!

Hope you all have good runs this week ....,

Yay, well done Secretrunner - it feels good, doesn't it? I can do 5k, but it takes me a looooong time. It's one of my goals for this year, to aim for 5k in 30 minutes. It might take me all year, but I'll get there! All the best for your running - we can do this! :)

Hey Secretrunner, I too have finished the programme. I love the fact that I can run for 30 minutes, but still can't do 5k in that time. I thought I was when I got a Nike+ for Christmas, but realised it wasn't calibrated right. Sooo disappointed to find out I am not running 5k. So will just have to keep at it. You and I WILL get there in the end. Running for 30 minutes is amazing.

Running 5k OR for 30mins is a massive achievement!

5k in 30mins is still a way off for me (I'm at about 33mins) but I'm concentrating on distance right now. I'm definitely a 'slow and steady' rather than a 'foot down and go for it'!

The first time I realised I'd done over 6k I was over the moon and now having done 7k twice, I'm not bothered about 5k time! Yes, it is a goal but I know it will take quite a while and the more I run, hopefully the closer I will get to it.

Yes it it a great feeling to run for 30 minutes. What I find equally amazing is that now I am enjoying running. For the first 15 minutes of my run today I thought "This is quite pleasant, I've found a rhythm and I'M NOT OUT OF BREATH"!!! At the beginning of the programme I struggled with the 60 seconds run. It's a lovely day out there, bitterly cold but glorious sunshine and it's hard to beat that hot shower after.
