Week 1 Run 1 A step in the right direction?

I've been pondering about this for around 6 months! Finally got myself sorted with iPod and the Ap and went to the gym yesterday. Came out sweaty and red but quite satisfied....I managed 1.9 miles and was surprised how quickly the minute of running went.

My question is will I be able to keep it going? I am quite active (teaching) swim at least 3 times a week and go to a weekly Bokwa class and belong to a North West Clog group.

Reasons for starting? I need to lose weight, I am in my 50th year feel that it would be a suitable achievement (march deadline), and to a certain attempt I need to practice what I preach...and I gave my husband a book on baking for Christmas!

Running from home is not really an option, a busy road and a bit isolated...so I was thinking about using my morning swim times..in the gym for 6.30 am for the 30 min work out. Do .3 runs and 2 swims a week, .with my other activity Saturday will be my day of rest. Am I setting myself up for disappointment? I was always a team sport player at school...running...not my thing?!

Just a thought, you seem to be doing quite a lot already? Could you not tweak your food intake for the weight loss and use some swim days to run and then alternate?

Yeh,a good line of thought...getting back to work and a consistent eating pattern should help me, I've lost a stone since September doing the swimming and bokwa, but holidays are always a challenge..my activity level plummets. II must have taken off and put back on the same half stone countless times!...so I hope that getting into a running habit will pay off, i put on 5lbs on this holiday...but lost 2 of those already. i have written 3 runs in my diary:mon, wed and fri...perhaps use the swimming as recovery tues and thurs...I'll give it a go and see how I feel on Saturday.

Sounds like a goer, frosty! If you're finding it too much then ease back a bit but I think you sound like you're up for the challenge. Keep blogging and you'll get lots of support and encouragement on here. :)
