Just rubbish...

I did run 1 of week 9 today and I couldn't keep the pace up that I would have liked to, so I started on the treadmill running at 9kmph and ended running at 7.6kmph!

My head was just not in it today and it was a hard slog to make myself finish 30 minutes. I want to feel proud and happy that I can run for an entire episode of Corrie (including the adverts) but I just can't cos I was crap!

Hopefully run 2 will be better tomorrow and I will graduate on a high on Christmas Eve...

Hey Lazy-moo, Sorry to hear that, Yeah hopefully run 2 will be much better , and at least you got out there and did it !! So well done for that :-)

I am just about to go to the gym now to do my first run of week 9. Because I have not run for 2 weeks I have to say i am NOT looking forward to it . But I had promised myself that I really want to complete week 9 by Christmas eve too. Good Luck :-)

Just take smaller steps. It does not matter if you run at 5kph or 10kph. The time spent doing it is the most important.

I know, I'm probably putting too much pressure on myself. I felt really dizzy afterwards, so it looks like I pushed myself too hard.

Thank you x

Be proud - you ran for 30 mins! The speed will come, but for now - you are doing it, bet you doubted that 9 weeks ago.

Thankyou for reminding me! I forget how I felt at the beginning of week one and you're right, I should definitely look back and think about the progress I've made. I struggle in being proud of myself, nothing ever seems to be good enough :/.

I like your phrase 'My head was just not in it', because it really highlights the main obstacle to running. It's such a lot to do with attitude and confidence.

To hell with the pace - just get through to the end. And you mustn't rubbish yourself. We all do it, but we forget how much we've actually achieved. You're a runner, who has good days and bad days. I bet the next run will be better and you'll wonder forget about this one. Good luck on your very imminent graduation!!

I lack in self-confidence and that has been my hardest struggle, knowing I CAN do it. Thank you for your kind words and slowly but surely I am starting to believe I am a runner.

Had to smile at you thinking you were crap after running for 30 mins! If you're anything like me 9 weeks ago you'd have argued with anyone who said you'd ever be able to run for 30 mins! Congrats on your amazing achievement and good luck for your graduation. :)

You are right, 9 weeks ago it was definitely seen as an unacheivable goal. One of my friends has just asked me to do a park run on the 29th and I'm really not sure I'm ready yet! Thank you, these posts really do make me believe I can do it :).

Running for 30 minutes, at any speed, is NOT CRAP. It's something I can still only dream of.

I am reading this at week 8. I have had 2 really hard runs. Your comment made me think.

I could hardly do wk 2 and 3 and wanted to give up at week 4. Please please do keep going. You CAN do it. I still find it tough but remembering how hard earlier weeks were keeps me going, DON'T GIVE UP. Tx

I'm sorry to put a downer on the majority of positive blogs out there. Some days you just feel like you've taken 2 steps forward and then 3 steps back! You both will run for 30 minutes but I guess what I meant by this blog is that sometimes a run doesn't always go the way you want it to.

Keep going guys because it has definitely made me a fitter and healthier person! Can't wait to see your shiny green graduation badges next to your names.

Thankyou for that little bit of motivation I need to finish this.
