Hoping for better progress in the new year.

I've been thinking about how much time out I've had from running since my graduation at the end of September. First there was the Pes Anserine Bursitas, which took about 3 weeks to heal, I got back into running quite gradually, but had a brief set back, when the bursa flared up again. During this time I purchased some new trainers.

I gradually built up my time again, then the other side of my leg started to hurt (same leg, the right one) self diagnosis with the help of google tells me it's the illiotibial band. I've iced, rested, exercised/stretched and when pain free started running again and just when I think I'm getting back into it, usually by the third run (with 2 days+ rests in between) it all flares up again. Today's thought was maybe I should go back to my old trainers when all's settled down again, as I never had this problem in the early days.

I know I have a shorter left leg, but I do wear an orthotic. I have a podiatry assessment book for the 15th January, so I'm hoping that a new set of orthotics and advice on my shoes will sort me out.

I purchased a foam roller yesterday, my leg felt very tender in places, when I tried it out. I'm hoping a few sessions will see an improvement.

In the mean time I'm quite frustrated that in 3 months I've not progressed.
