Ok so I abandoned what should have been my second run of week 2 tonight (ashamed face) but you'll be glad to hear I was duely punished. You see it was very very cold and I wasnt particularly looking forward to it when my sister asked me to go spinning with her. Now Im not a big fan of spinning I havent done it in years but she was really keen so I agreed, figured a little cross training wouldn't hurt. I. Was. Wrong. So very wrong.

Why oh why did I skip that run, a form of cardio that doesnt involve an all too intimate relationship with an inexplicably shaped bicycle seat. I sat on that bike fixated on the open door, wondering if I could beat the rather toned looking instructor in a footrace.

So when it comes to mixing in other excercises I'm basically on the fence, which after that class is even more uncomfortable than usual. As far as cardio goes it wasnt a bad workout but will I manage a John Wayne inspired run tomorrow? Only time, and the state of my quads, will tell.

Anyone else throwing in a (non-running) related activity to boost cardio? Think I might be doing myself more harm than good here :/

The seat on my push-bike is massive, about 12" across. Really comfy when out for a bike ride with the kids. Mind you it cost half as much as the bike so it should be! How my son manages on his razor blade type seat I don't know!

I hope you don't look too much like John Wayne, enjoy your run today.

I agree about the horrors of the bike seat in spinning, having just done a spin class myself - ouch! I do swimming, core stability / Pilates and aquafit (much more vigorous than

I imagined but fab). Elliptical trainers are good for running, I fear, but I really hate them for some reason! Running is so self contained and you can just go when you like, though! Good luck with your 'seven years in the saddle' run tomorrow - only joking, you'll be fine!
