Two runs in week 5. It helps when the hills occur whilst you are walking.

On Monday did the first of the week 5 runs, and found that unlike the previous run I had completed the last lock climb before starting the second running stretch. Altogether it felt much easier.

This morning I went back to the local park, because I had to take my car to the garage, and it was on the way back . It's definitely much easier if the terrain is mainly flat. The downside is that I had a barking collie running alongside urging me on. The step up from 5 minute runs to 8 minutes didn't seem too bad. It's the dreaded 20 minute run next.

Hi wideawake,

I also did the second run of week 5 today and oddly enough was also thinking about up versus down hill landscapes. I suspect its because of the big lurking fear of 20 mins that preying on my mind..........

I was pushed but not exhausted at the end of each run but still I really dont know how I will manage the 20 mins :(

My run is gently downhill for the first half and then a mix of flat and uphill the second half,no matter which way I do the run.

Guess we'll just have to try and grit our teeth to get through :-)

Good luck :-)

Hi teeandtoast.

If you haven't completed it already I don't think you'll find the 20 minute run too bad. I completed mine today, and it was no worse than the previous session. I find that I'm pushed in all the sessions but never to the point of being exhausted. Pace is the key for the longer stretches. I managed to complete the first ten minutes comfortably and had a little in the tank to speed up at the end.
