First Park Run since graduating

Evening all graduated in October getting just under the 5K in 30 minutes and have been working hard on the Podcasts plus B210K weeks 1 & 2. All going well so went to the Gunpowder Mills in Waltham Abbey this morning to try the Park run.

Cold, wet but I finished that was my first goal when starting the C25K to run a proper 5K race and got a time between where I thought I would be 40/45 minutes came in at 41.10. From a total non runner in August I feel so proud and loved most of it. Now I know the course and people will certainly go again. The helpers and other runners really cheered me on.

Hope to do another during December to keep up 1 or 2 a month. If anybody is thinking of doing it go for it, I was right at the back pack but just ran my own race even if I did go out a bit hard!!! silly me.

Good luck to all

Well done Alex and Big Ed, I was really nervous doing my first Parkrun but they are great fun aren't they? I agree the cheering really does pep you up when you're flagging. Well done to all of us Parkrunners who braved the elements today and beat the Gremlins. :-)

well done you!

I've signed up to parkrun but not had a chance to do one yet, as I've been away the last few weekends. I am looking forward to doing my first in the next few weeks. Your post is very encouraging, thank you. I expect to be at or very near the back, so I won't worry about it now, just enjoy the challenge of completing a 5K (I'm also doing just under in 30 minutes). I did a charity one during week 8, but haven't yet run for more than 30 minutes and haven't managed the full 5K in that time since the charity run (the other people swept me along, it was a fluke!)
