Did it. Got back out there.

After missing more weeks than I care to admit, I got myself back out there. Did think I might have to drop back a week or more but just went to give it a go and managed the next link in the chain. However, I was very slow and wonder if I'll manage to get to 5K by the end of the programme. Did W7R3 and only managed 1.83 miles in the allotted time- not including the warm up. Don't yet feel confident enough in my ability to go faster and still complete the time. A big problem is the dark, holes in the road/pavement and lots of leaves at the moment. Am planning to try W8R1 tomorrow night after work and, hopefully, W8R2 at the weekend in daylight.

Don't think I would have made it this far without the C25K community. Thank you everyone for the inspiration. I run on my own and its great to know there are others out there having highs and lows along the way but still sticking with it..

It is difficult to run in the dark evenings, as you say uneven pavements, poor lighting and other hazards spoil the fun to say nothing of it being cold, and often wet, much easier to stay in so well done for going out and running. I wouldn't worry about your distance just the fact that you are running non stop is fantastic the speed and distance will come (or so I tell myself!). Good luck with your week 8 runs, don't forget to let us know how you get on :-)

Rolphie is so right! Speed will come later. I'm still not at a 5K for 30 minutes, it takes me 37-40 minutes. We all have different fitness levels and builds, so we can't expect it will be a "one size fits all" program. You are doing fantastic, look at you! Starting week 8 and then the best week of them all...GRAD WEEK! :-) Gayle

Thanks for that. Will try to blog after each run, mainly to confirm to me I have actually gone out and done it! Can't believe week 8 is next. Don't think I really believed I could do this.

Well done on getting back out there, these dark evenings are totally wiping out my own good intentions ! I did week 1 to 7 indoors last winter and whilst I dont want to return to the treadmill (boring and sweatier and dont allow my dog in!) I may have to consider it soon!

Take it slow especially given the potholes and slippery leaves that plague us this time of the year, just dont worry about speed, you keep going, you are doing amazing!

Thank you. I don't think I would do this if I had to resort to a treadmill so well done to you. I work on my own so may resort to running at lunch time and just putting up with being a bit sweaty until I get home for a shower.
