Should I run every day after graduating. Training for charity run in 2 weeks.

I graduated last week and am doing a 5k charity run 2 weeks today. Started stepping stone yesterday and did well but had mediocre run today. Planned to do 2k run 0.5 k walk 2k run but actually did only 1.5k run 0.5k walk 1k run. Was very tough and legs felt terribly heavy and couldn't get enough air into lungs.

Wondering what advice others have for the next 2 weeks. Should I run every day or have rest days as before. Want to increase my speed a bit and would love to get down to 5k in under 28min for my run but main thing is to finish as its for charity. Can currently do 5k in about 30mins.

Definitely not every day or you will be very lacklustre on your 5k run in two weeks. I would have a look at some of the many good training plans on the net and take the last two weeks of the one that seems to fit best for you. You have to taper off your training the last few days before your charity run so that you are fresh and ready to rock when the big day comes! Good luck!

ps I think it was Oldgirl who recommended HIIT (High intensity interval training), forgive me if it wasn't, but that seems to be the quickest way to up one's speed and general fitness. Look it up.

I used to run everyday, but the legs started telling me something wasn't good, now run further but twice a week and the legs are fine.
