MIA but still on target

Hi y'all. I've been MIA for a few days, but I'm still going strong. My martial arts tournament wasn't that great. I placed 2nd. I know that sounds good, but there were only two competitors. I'm not going to let it get me down. I'm just going to keep on truckin. Next time, I'll do better.

I started week 2 this morning. I really didn't have too much trouble with it. Last week, I had a few incidents of very tight calf muscles during my runs. This week is better. Maybe my running form is getting better or my calves are getting strong? Possibly both? Less pain is always good. I think that I may be running too fast. I'm able to keep up with it now, but I'm worried about how I will fair in later weeks. AAAHH...Kimber, just take it one day at a time!

I did sign up for my first 5K! It will be on January 1st in a small coastal town near my home. I'm really looking forward to it. It does really give me incentive to keep training. I put up a poster for the run on my fridge and the poster board in my office to keep me motivated. I'm also telling people about it so they'll ask me how I'm doing. :D I can't let my friends down, can I? There's another run that I'm interested in. It won't be until September of 2013. It's a zombie obstacle course run! How fun does that sound?!

Hey Kimber, well done on starting week 2! I think its a common problem for us to start off too quickly but you will get used to the pace that is right for you, especially on those longer runs.

Its brilliant you have something to aim for in January and you will get loads of support here for sure and from your friends and colleagues. Best of luck for W2R2 and keep stretching those calves to avoid any future problems.....Sue

I'm goal oriented, and I'm very competitive with myself. A New Year's Day 5k is the perfect combination of carrot-on-the-stick and resolution for me.

I was reading about zombie runs just before Halloween!! I think that they would be an absolute blast!! It sounds like they are becoming more and more popular!!

It is very bright of you to sign up now for your first 5K!! You have a bit of built in motivation with that!!

You are early in the program and you will find the best pace for you as you go along. I also found that my best pace changed as the program progressed. I had to slow down so that I could finish each run. No worries...you will be fine!

Keep Running!! :-)

Thank you for the words of encouragement. I really like zombies, and a zombie run sounds like it's right up my alley. :D
