It should have been Week 9.

Last night I was sat thinking (dangerous I know) about my C25k journey so far. The first 4 and half weeks were great - I was getting more and more enthusiastic and eager to get out there. Then disaster struck on W5R3 when I pulled my ankle. 3 weeks later the pain is still there. Getting really bored and fed up with it! Anyway if that hadn't have happened I'd be starting week 9 this weekend. Am I disappointed? You bet. I'm I going to give up? No way!

So today I've been for a walk - tried to run a little but still painful. Walked 2.5 miles though. I'm going to try to build that up and hopefully start back on week 3 if possible next weekend. I am determined that I will graduate in time for Christmas. I have asked Father Christmas if he could get me a graduate t-shirt so I have something to aim for. Wish me luck!

Sorry about your ankle vikicats. It must be so hard having to stop slap bang in the middle of the programme. I can imagine you're really fed up with it. I managed to get to graduation without injury and then immediately did something to my calf and had to stop for several weeks. It was so depressing and I thought I'd take ages getting back into it. In fact the weeks passed, I gradually increased the length of walking and then running like you, and here I am at 8k.

All I can suggest is that you go at it slowly. It's not worth rushing things and then perhaps having to stop running for ages. I really hope you get your Christmas present! I'm sure you'll make it, you have the right spirit by the sound of it!

I know exactly what you mean. I bashed my knee a couple of weeks ago and since then I've only been able to go out 3 times for just 3K, and it's a struggle, it feels like my progress is on the verge of disappearing down the drain. Must be even more frustrating for you - at least I managed to get the badge before I conked out!

I think walking is a good idea, though. We could start a walking wounded club... :-D

Limping home this morning I was even wondering if it would be better just to walk fast through the winter and build up the running again in spring. But knowing me I'll keep on running on a not-quite-better knee until it either falls off or gets better in spite of me...

Keep on with the ice or whatever you're doing with your ankle, and I'm sure you'll manage to earn that t-shirt before long - you sound really determined and I guess that's half the battle. Good luck! xx

So sorry you are still in pain vikicats but its great you still have your eye on the prize and are determined to carry on; the bug has bitten!

Good luck on your recovery and your run next weekend. Your patience and determination will definitely be rewarded by Santa I'm sure!

Frustrating, I'm sure...I hope you can be up and running again soon. Great job in keeping the spirit and eventually continuing. Sounds like your Santa is going to treat you well! Here's looking at you wearing your new grad shirt in 2013!!!! :-) Gayle
