Lovely to run again...

Well it has been almost three week since I last ran and hurt my ankle, I still believe that hurting my ankle had nothing to do with my ankle and more to do with my upper leg, if that makes sense.

Well the ankle healed over a week ago, but my upper leg has been twinging, as if it was inside, anyway my leg has settled, except for the odd twinges tha now seem to be moving around both legs, it's almost as if the twinges are because my legs are out of balance as I lose muscle (but I'm probably just being dramatic).

So decided enough is enough, been thinking that for a couple of days now, so went out for an easy 20 minute run tonight to see how the legs hold up.

But got to say, I couldn't do an easy run, I had forgotten a little how much I loved running and just enjoyed putting one foot in front of the other and ran quite quick 3.5k in 20mins, so chuffed that I was still able to run without stopping.

Next steps...hopefully 5k runs for a few weeks, then very slowly build up, if I've learnt anything from week 3 of C25k and end of week 2 of B210know is that my body doesn't like building up too quickly and B210K built too much distance too quickly for me, so I'm gonna build a personal plan, but in a few weeks, I gonna get some mileage under my belt again first.

All this is legs permitting....here's hoping for sore legs, not painful legs in the morning :-)

Well I was thinking a quick blog, but hey why use 10 words when you can use a 100.

Enjoy your runs!

Well done, so pleased to see your post, it gave me the push to start running again. Due to work and family commitments I haven’t run for 3 weeks. I have started week 7 again and have just completed 25 minutes and it wasn’t too bad, in fact like you I found I really enjoyed it. You have inspired me to continue, thank you. I am looking forward to the day I get my graduate badge. .

Thank you, that is lovely to hear, only 8 more runs to graduation and a lovely shiney badge. I really enjoyed to longer runs without intervals, hope you do to :-)

Great news Phil! So glad for you. You've probably hit the nail on the head about building up.

Good luck buddy!

I quite agree with you about building up gradually - I got impatient and hurt myself and that, along with a couple of other health issues have stopped me keeping on top of my running, but I'm now feeling just about ready to make a proper plan. Oh, and I've signed up for four races between now and the end of January ;-)

Good luck Phil !

Good luck and remember if you're not well don't race, I missed a race last weekend, take care :-)

Hi Phil, Glad you are back running. Hurt my ankle 2 weeks ago. Still in quite a lot of pain. Really want to get back at it Very frustrating. At least I know that others have made it to the other side of the injury and started back again. Hoping to start again in a week or so.

You'll be fine, but have a think about why you hurt you ankle, did you place your foot wrong or is something else playing up? :-) good luck, shouldn't be too long, may feel longer though.
