W8R3 is driving me mad!

Have now had two attempts at it and haven't been able to finish it which seems a bit daft considering I've already run it twice!!

The only thing I can put it down to is my running schedule having been mucked up again but this sounds like a bit of a lame excuse to me so I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem if they don't do their regular runs.

I did get further tonight than last time so maybe next time :o)

I had massive issues with week 8 in general - mostly due to injury messing up my schedule. I got it done by taking it really slowly to make sure I made it round. Just keep your pace really comfortable and you will make it. Keep remembering that you've done it twice already. One more go at it and you'll have made it to the home straight!! Stay positive and good luck :)

I did too, I was afraid I'd give up at one point. I don't know what happened to me. I didn't have an injury or anything. Did W8R3 3 times before I nailed it (and that was only because I did it on the treadmill, I'd never run on one before and the novelty factor got me through, I think!). I agree with Fraz's advice, take it steadily and don't panic!

Try a different route if you can, I think going past the place you stopped and walked isn't good (I still don't like that spot even though I run that route again now).

I KNOW you can do this, you've got this far and you have proved you can do the 28 minute run. Next time you will nail it, I am quite sure. Good luck.

Thanks guys, it is just so frustrating, but hopefully all the things that have got in the way of ny normal schedule are over and done with now so I can get back to my regular schedule of 3 runs a week and will have it cracked before long :o)

W8R1: Laura said well done, you've run for 10 minutes - I stopped dead. Another five minutes, I stopped to stretch my calves, stopped again and walked a few paces - a complete hash of a run. W8R2: after the farce of W8R1 gave myself permission to stop at 14 minutes - felt fine and carried on. W8R3: so windy I could barely walk - 28 minutes took me well short of my usual 3ishk, and at the end I was going to slowly that I didn't even try to catch someone walking ahead of me.

Moral? Keep going. W9 is going fine for me.

Thanks Delores, it sounds just like my last two attempts at R3 lol.

I have decided that I am just going to have to be a bit single minded and selfish and say 'this is my time to go running, whatever else you need / want me to do will have to wait'

I'm going to try it again tomorrow and I am determined to finish it this time :o)
