A 6.8 km run around and about the village. It was raining, but not absolutely bucketing down like it was this morning and is again now. I was running through ankle deep flood water across the road at places. Some of this was very smelly as it was coming from the over-flowing road-side ditches - so no option to skirt around the water. Home for a looong soak in the bath.
Friday should be my long, slow distance run, but I'm leaving that until Sunday, or doing it in place of my usual speed intervals on Monday.
You are very committed to running if you run in this weather! I went to the gym and done a 5k on the treadmill. Refuse to slosh about in this weather! Will indoor cycle tomorrow. 16 days to go. Signed up to the Edinburgh Moonwalk next June....
I couldn't get to a gym even if I wanted. I set off to drive to town this morning and turned around after 5 miles because of the flooding across the road. I drove (cannily) through about 10 x 6" deep flooded sections. Then thought that as it was still pelting down, these flooded sections will be much longer and deeper when I return home about 2 hours later. Maybe I'm a big scaredy-cat, but our car is not particularly high off the road and I'd hate for it to splutter to a halt in the middle of an enormous puddle. So I turned around and took a different route home.
I was disappointed as I was heading into the local running shop to pick up the new Garmin running watch they had ordered for me. I'm beginning to wish I'd just ordered if off the 'net, but I like to support local businesses when I can. Plus it will be a little cheaper as the local shop had issued me with a discount voucher when I bought my running shoes there. This voucher expired last week, but the shop has said they'll honour the discount since the Garmin has only just come on the market and I explained I'd been waiting for this model.
