Locking laces?

I've bought some locking laces in hopes of my son who has complex special needs being able and willing to use them and then it wouldn't be such a nightmare to find shoes for him (hard to find velcro trainers when you are adult size) Anyway, I wondered about getting some to go in my running shoes - I love my Brooks Green Silence but I don't love *quite* how often the recycled laces come undone. I am not always glad of an opportunity for a sneaky breather! Anyone got any experiences, especially anyone who has used them on asymmetrically laced shoes like mine.

Never used locking laces but I've found if I tuck the loops of the bow under the crossed laces on the front of the shoe they don't come undone.
