...are very hard to get up for! Especially on a Sunday when all the rest of the "normal" people in the northern hemisphere are still huddled deep under their summer weight duvets.
I was aware that I'd only run approx 7.6 miles this week, split between a 4.5 and a 3.1. If I'm to up my mileage ten-fifteen percent from the week before (total 12.4 mileage including that Scottish 10K event) I wanted to get at least a seven miler under my belt today...I've decided I'm not going to be ready for, and have not entered, the Truro Half, but want to get up to half marathon distance "just in case" something else is coming up after that.
The push behind making it an early morning event was that I have had quite a few long lie-ins this last week; being the last week of my lovely long summer holidays from my school job. I'm back at work tomorrow, and need to be tired nice and early tonight and up nice and early tomorrow for two training days before the little dev...er little angels are back in on Wednesday.
Anyway, once around my usual loop with an extra few hundred yards "tweak" is four miles, so I did it twice in the end. I was quite pleased to get an overall speed of 6.1mph as I was feeling knackered after the first loop! There were plenty of ups and downs too. It was nicely cool enough this morning; I'd originally thought about fitting this one in yesterday but Cornwall was bathed in glorious late summer sunshine all day; and if there's one thing I HATE, it's running in any sort of warmth.

Anyway, back to the salt mines tomorrow - and next run on Tuesday!
