Cramp yesterday - Awwwwwww but happy outcome.

I took cramp in my left calf muscle yesterday while doing the 5K Parkrun, it left me hopping in one leg and then trying to run on right foot and tip toes on the left. This is not something I'm prone to so thought it was dehydration as it was very hot, again not something we are used to up here!! Well I was up pacing in the night with it again, awwwwwch.

So this morning I decided a gentle walk was needed to losen off the muscle, I would walk into the city centre and have a look in SportsDirect shop.

Guess what I bought myself, a pair of ASICS, same as the ones I have now which are still in good condition. But the big bonus was they were in their sale so instead of paying £95 I got them for £55, bargain of the day, yippee. It now means that if I get caught in the pouring rain again I won't have to put my wet shoes back on if not dried out, I've got another pair to fall back on, they're even a different colour so really pleased. I love my ASICS. :)

I'm off to have a G&T tonight the tonic is to help with the cramp and on its own its not very nice you understand ;)

Of course the G&T is totally medicinal *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* - the things us runners do for our sport!! Commiserations about the cramp though but every cloud and all that as you managed to get a bargain pair of trainers :D

Those trainers sound like a right bargain. I went to my local sports direct today but nothing caught my eye, not even a new pair of socks!

Enjoy the G&T :)

Yes I drink slim line tonic to help with cramp, think I blogged about this once before when I was having crammpy calf and found it helps lots. I think I read somewhere that its the quinine in it that does the trick. Enjoy the G&T might have to have one now, purely medicinal of course :)

Thats right it is the quinine thats works the magic. They used quinine to treat POW suffering from malaria & dysentery I'm told it helped stop the stomach cramps for the latter. My father had severe malaria recurrences and Tonic was always kept as a stand by even way back then. I like it mixed with dilute orange juice but vodka is nicer ;)
