First 5k on Sunday.. and i have an injury.

Hi All.

I am running my first 5k for Charity on Sunday, for the Anthony Nolan Trust. This has been planned for months, and was ready.. up until 3 weeks ago. I split my foot open, and also ripped my calf muscle both of which took time to heal, and the calf still feels tight.

Now, i find i struggle to run non stop for 20 minutes and today only managed a 10 min non stop run. I am hoping the atmosphere, and running for the first time with a friend on the day will motivate me through it, because i desperately want to run the whole thing without walking..

Feeling pretty annoyed at myself though. Gonna take the day off tomorrow, eat and drink well, get a good nights sleep, and then give it everything i got,

on Sunday.

Good luck for Sunday. There is no shame in walking especially if you have an injury. Just take it easy and enjoy!

Hi jomcc4, Thanks very much! Yeah, i will do my best, but try and enjoy it no matter what. I am a bit worried about my posture and a fear that i will have flying elbows and stuff, but will see how it goes!

Good luck Aspy! Sorry about your injury, you must be disappointed. Good on you for seeing it through. At least you will get a feel for what it's like to race. Think of your health in the long term I would say and take it easy. Have you tried compression socks?
