I ran to raise funds for a local cancer charity that helped me during my treatment ( treatment finished in January this year). When i started the first week of c25k I was close to tears thinking I will never be able to do this but week by week, day by day I was able to complete the runs and gain all round strength.

After finishing c25k I moved on to do 1 run of 30/35mins, run 2 intervals -10 mins each four times and then run 3 a long run which I increased weekly. I did the run in 1hour 56 mins and can walk today - which is unbelievable for me although it was tough, weather was hot and there were 7000 runners approx I did enjoy my gruelling time on the run :) - (slowly but surely) and I was not last. I have found the forum a great source of encouragement, thanks to one and all. I have a few pains today but none requiring medical intervention but i may need cake for medicinal purposes :)

An amazing journey to start and we all know it leads to complete madness as well as a strange sense of enjoyment and great achievement. I am not sure if being in races is for me but I will be setting a goal which has a smaller distance but maybe a slightly quicker pace- training rather than racing, but never say never. Good luck to each of you doing the c25k and all those graduates.................. happy running................................

Epic sums it up. Thanks. Is it your good self who mentioned not liking races at some point? If yes what puts you off? what puts others off? Was wondering how others felt. I did not like the pressure, race day looming type pressure

I have never done a race (and I've been running for 18 months) because I didn't like the idea of running with others/getting nervous and pressure. But I have decided that I need to at least give it a go so I have now signed up to do a half marathon in September and a 10k race on 24th June to 'get used to racing'. Time will tell whether I will like it or not!

Well done to you! Massive acheivement :)

I wonder how many cakes you could eat to replace the calories you burned during this race? ;)

I think that c25k = cake cake and more cake regardless of the distance but i dream of cake and try not to indulge too much, dream dream dream :) :) :)

Chocolate is my downfall :( we have to use these foods as rewards (or goals), the next run I do past ?k and I'll treat myself to some chocolate etc ;)
