Went to buy some new trainers over the weekend and had my gait analysed... Tried on loads of different makes/styles and came away with a rather lovely pair of Saucony trainers - not cheap but see it as an investment (I daren't miss a run now!).
I went to the runnersneeds shop in Snow+Rock - I was there for about 30 mins trying on different traniners and running on the treadmill (not running for 30 mins I hasten to add). I was told that I had a good running style (woohoo!!) and was running correctly. This was very reassuring as I'm conscious of my flat feet and have been suffering a bit with some shin and knee pain in my left leg. This was picked up when watching the video playback of me on the treadmill when the assistant commented I roll in slightly more on my left foot - I hadn't mentioned the pain so was rather impressed! With my new trainers this motion has been corrected and I certainly felt the difference when I completed W3R1 this morning - wow, proper trainers really do make a difference! It was also interesting that I needed to go up by half a size, was dubious but again I could really feel the difference, so much more comfortable. Roll on W3R2...
