Putting my ipod on shuffle was a Big Mistake...

So, yesterday after work was my first run after graduation, and as I had no idea what music would be good to run to, I decided to just put my ipod on shuffle.

This was a big mistake.

Soft and quiet simon and garfunkle, blues with a constantly changing rhythm and some "i'm going to die" type frank turner songs were not helpful!

I kept going, cursing my decision but not well coordinated enough to reach into my back pocket and press "skip" without falling over. I managed 4.5 k in around 28 minutes, which I'm going to put down to partly the heat (oh my WORD it was hot!) and partly my epicly poor song choices.

I've now made two playlists - one of "living on a prayer" type anthems, and one with some dance/trance. ANYTHING surely will be better than yesterday!

I've also been inspired by some forum people to try this intervals lark using week 1 and the run fast/jog combo. I'm doing the 5k in 30 mins but have only run it a few times, should I wait a few weeks before starting that or jump right in? I'll only use it for one run a week but thought it might mix things up a bit.

Haha, there's no way I'd leave my mp3 player on shuffle - I've got loads of spoken word stuff on there for one thing, as well as totally inappropriate stuff like Elliott Smith and Bob Dylan. Definitely make playlists!

The last song on my first ever attempt at 20 mins was 'I can't go any further than this' by the Black Eyed Peas....nuff said!

Weird haven't made a playlist since 1983ish. Husband found all the singles I had downloaded onto computer from Amazon and started laughing. Madonna surprisingly good, heavy rock to get you through at the end when you want to stop ... I have decided that ok to have terrible taste when running! Exploring 70s disco at the mo ...Number one artist not to run has to be Leonard Cohen.

I made a playlist ages ago for my chum who borrowed my Ipod for aqua gym class that I go to so I copied it and added some more for running. Funnily enough I put it on shuffle the other day and as I was struggling up hill M People - Moving on up, came on very appropriate although the song was a heck of a lot faster than me!!!!
