Is there anyone elso who like me is finding it a bit difficult to remain motivated? i am determined to keep up the x3 a week 5k but sometimes I have to force myself to get out there. Usually feel better afterwards, but I thought that doing the 5k would get easier - not sure it is, is it meant to?

Hi April,

Well done on graduating and on still getting out there no matter how hard you are finding it. I found once I had finished the programme that I needed something else to keep me motivated and to go on further so I began the B210K. If you don't want to build up to another distance maybe you could build in tempo/interval/Fartlek/hillwork? (Hill work is great for those rear glute muscles) Get some new running music? Promise yourself some new kit when you have completed ten runs...remind yourself how many calories you are burning up for each 5K. Whatever works for you!

The B210K podcasts are available on Andystev's blog list.

Whatever you do, don't drop it now, look at how far you have come and how fit you are!!

thanks for this, have built in interval by going back to earlier weeks and replacing the walk sections with a jog and found that it had helped to add variety (and the music is different).

10k sounds scarry, but then so did 5k! But i have recently found that a collegue (unknown to me) did the NHS 5k and is now doing the B210K, I will have to give it some serious consideration...!!

Hi April, you will get there!

I had to enter an event (chose a 10k) and download a training programme from Runners World website to keep focussed.

Thanks Deryn - there seems to be a bit of consensus about 10k, how long did it take you? I guess entering an event, especially if its sponsored would concentratethe mind!

April, the B210K as I posted above is a five week plan, mostly the same format at the C25K with the same run being done three times a week but the last week has three different runs similar to W5 of the C25K. By the end of it you are at 2x30 mins with a minute in the middle to walk - then you just join it all up. Easy peasy (ok, not, but it sounds good!!)
