Week 8 run 2, nearly there!

The sun came out just as I got in from work today so I took that as an omen that I should get out and run this evening. Thought I would try and go back on my normal route along the river as it seemed to be drying up a bit at the weekend. Ground was fine if a little damp but ok for running on, but I found the run so hard to start with and really thought I was going to have to stop at the halfway point when the thought of the hill I should have climbed got into my head. Instead of doing a circuit including the hill I just turned round and doubled back on myself, still ended up finishing on a hill but it didn't seem so bad to be running the last few minutes uphill instead of stopping halfway as I didn't think I could manage the hill at that point! Did manage to run for the whole 28 minutes and tracked my run and discovered that I had run at a much faster pace then before and had managed to do 4.49K today which is longer then I have achieved before. So instead of it being a bad run it turned into a positive one! Very happy....

  • Well done... What a cracking pace for your stage in the program. I don't think I was anywhere near that speed in wk 8. It can be difficult to pace yourself sometimes but it is good to know the reason why you found this run more challenging. Just remember if you are struggling and having thoughts of stopping try slowing down a little and see if that helps with the lungs and legs...
