Well last week I finished W6 - just about - by the skin of my teeth - for the first time I felt physically tired after the 25min run, and even more breathless than when just starting out on W1. Let me explain: I'm asthmatic, never been sporty, but I do a lot of walking. So probably I have muscles in my legs, even though I couldn't run for a bus without some very heavy breathing. I get out of breath way before I'm physically tired, and way before my heart starts pounding.
But still, I've managed to get to W6, and my asthma in general is much improved. Wahay for C25K!!!!! I would never have believed it. Any how Imma repeat W6 because that last run, I'm not confident I could do 3 of those in a row.
So I was walking back from town yesterday and I thought I'd get in the first run of W6, which is 5 mins, followed by 8 minutes, followed by 5 mins. Should have been easy, right?
Was it heck. I couldn't make it. It flaked out before the last 2.5 minutes of the last run. But valuable lessons were learned: namely that the time I spend psyching myself up in the evening (I run at night so no-one can see me huffing and puffing) - shall I go now? Will I make it? Have a drink of water first - let it go down - have a puff of inhaler in good time - give it another 5 minutes - all that stuff is a large part of what gets me thru the run. Live and learn eh?
Shout-out to all the other asthmatics on here and good luck to everyone.
