It's my first week!! Wish me luck...

Hi there. I started c25k a week ago, doing the first run in my living room on the spot. found it fairly easy. decided to try it outside a couple of days later and realised that the first one didn't count at all. the whole way through i was thinking 'whose idea was this again?' ha. but felt brililant when i managed to complete it. even if i did resemble a large tomato.

i am 29, 17 stones and have lost and gained the same four stones a couple of times now. i'm not doing this to lose weight, although hopefully that will be a happy side effect. i just suddenly felt the need to be fitter. i don't know where it came from. in fact i think everyone i know is flabbergasted that i am doing this. ha. but i really feel the need to be able to run... odd right?

i did week 1 run 2 today. i thought it may be easier than last time but it really wasn't. i recovered faster i think, but i can't see me moving onto week 2 after just one more run at this pace. i wanted this one to feel quite comfortable before i moved onto the next one.

i know that you can extend weeks but how many people actually do this? is it worth doing this run 4 or 5 times? i don't want to attempt week 2 and put myself off by falling flat on my face (perhaps literally...)

anyways. just wanted to say howdy to you all :) run three in two days.

wish me luck!!

Well, welcome and good luck for run 3!

You can repeat week 1 as many times as you want to. I think most people have a gut instinct when they are ready for the next challenge and move onto the next week. It isn't a race, and every time you run you are getting fitter and strengthening muscles you didn't even know you had!

the amount i wheeze away i certainly hope so!!

what i found strange was that the first 2 runs were really awful, i wasn't sure whether i would make it half way through even, and then from then on it got easier, until the last two, ha. there was swearing when she told me i had two left to go. i'd added one in somewhere and though there was only one :)

You could always give week 2 a try - you might be surprised how much you've improved. The worst that can happen is you find you're not ready and then revert to week 1.

Good on you for starting - stick with it, it is well worth the effort.

I always moved on to the next week with the idea that if I found it too hard I could drop back to the week before, that way if I was really ready for the next week I found I could do it, and if not I could drop back. As it turned out I have moved through from each week to the next, I'm not sure I would have believed I could do that if I hadn't tried it out each time

I just wanted to say well done on w1r2 - we're quite similar as I'm a similar age and weight to you and also completed w1r2 today. We can do it!! Will keep an eye out to see how you are getting on :) Good luck!!
