Is there a GPS Suitable for running and geo caching

Now I only have one more run in week 6, i would like to measure how far i am running. Is there anything available that i can use when running then the family can use when geocaching. At present we use an iphone app but a GPS would be more accurate so hoping to combine both uses. I have a Nike app on my phone but not sure how i can start that after the warm up walk without losing Laura.

You might find something suitable if you search for "route data logger" or similar. Here are some on Amazon - it's worth reading the reviews to see what would be most suitable. amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_no...

if I knew what geocaching was may be able to comment lol. Before I bought a Garmin I used Endomondo to map my route / distance / time.

Thanks for the link i shall look. Geocaching is a great family activity that we do. I think the app is approx £5 and it tells you where there is treasure near to your location. The treasure being a hidden book or paper camouflaged in your surroundings. You have a log in name and state when you found it then log in on line to add to your finds. We do it all over the country. we were at a wedding away a few months ago and whilst i was in the hairdressers the others looked to find the geocaches in the vicinity.

You can walk as far or not as you wish. Some weekends we walk 6-7 miles and my 9 year old doesnt give it a thought as he is too busy looking for treasure!!

Bonus is, as well as an interesting family activity you are getting fitter without any pain.

Only downside is, we do manage with the iphone but with a proper GPS its more accurate plus we could leave Geocaches for others as well. Look on the Geocach website, there is an introductory free one. Just dont tell the muggles about it (non geocachers).

No I use Nike Gps. I guess before I start to run I can pause Laura then start the gps then restart Laura . Just thought it would be nice to have gps on a watch style device. Tomorrow is my first 25 minute run so I will use the Nike app and see how far I get.

I use Motion-x GPS on my iphone and it runs in parallel with other apps - it records route, distance, average speed, max speed and altitude. You are also able to save your tracks and compare as you progress. I also geocache using either the iPhone app or a dedicated Garmin GPSMap 62C

I use a an etrex venture for geocaching and it can record my running route, times, average speeds etc but it is a bit chunky to run with but not impossible. It's fairly simple as far as caching gadgets go but it's under £100 and has served me well for over 4 years and many miles.
