W5R3 - in the rain, with the dog

So this morning was the biggie, well for me. 20 mins non stop running and I was really looking forward to it. So me and the dog, Sparky a little Jack Russell and I set off. Up to now Sparky has enjoyed the runs as much as I have, little tail wagging and keeping up with me (thats not actually that hard!). This morning was another matter, he has never really liked the rain but this morning was silly! He dragged his paws on the five minute walking warm up and when the run started he had to be pulled along for the first 5 minutes. I swear he could hear Laura saying 5 minutes in, keep going as his attitude improved and he started running along side me rather than being pulled along. All was fine until Laura stated there was just 5 minutes to go and he started dragging again.

Well we finished the run, but I have to say I found it easier than the dog. How good was that! Not only did I achieve the 20 minutes continous running but I also did half of it pulling the dog along. My fitness must have improved.

Sparky is now asleep in his bed with a blanket over him. Poor boy I wonder if the NHS has a C25K for dogs as he is finding this tough!

Oh, bless :-) . I love these stories of running with dogs - they have so much character! I only have a cat (a fat ginger one) so short of some very major dragging, that ain't going to work for me :-)

Just done the same minus the dog, tried to drag the other half out but he wasn't convinced and stayed tucked up in bed!! Never thought I would get this far and am very proud of myself. Well done to you too, looking forward to week 6?!

Well done you! I was so pleased with myself and so should you. Yes I am looking forward to WK6. Have signed up for a 5K in June so hoping I will be ready by then!

Less hope he dosn't call the RSPCA! :)

I thought about running with my cats but I have always worried about them taking down a deer and dragging it home.

Well done both, can't wait to get there myself.

Well done to you and Sparky! I run with my dog, Maggie, but shes a Golden Retriever so has longer legs and the run doesn't phase her!!

Fantastic really really well done! And Sparky of course! :)

Great job! Onwards to w6, though I think your little running buddy might start hiding when he sees you putting on your trainers!

Good luck with your 5k too.
