I’m on week 9 now, just two runs until I graduate. However I am very slow, 10km/hr which is the speed they allude to for “5k in 30mins” is a long long way as I am averaging about 6.5km/hr on my “runs”… I know you’ll all be rolling your eyes at how painfully slow I am. My boyfriend still reckons he can walk faster than I run – but I promise you I AM RUNNING!
Was thinking about going back to the start of the podcasts and running fast/ slow instead of jogging/ walking… has anyone else tried this? Or any other ideas for ways to develop my speed…? I fear if I keep going out 3 times a week and running for 30mins until I am doing 5k I am going to get bored and grumpy…!
Thanks in advance

I've thought of doing something like this too. Don't know whether you have heard of Fartlek training but google it and have a look. I'm considering this because I need to increase my speed to pass a bleep test for the Special Constabulary
Have a look at the Audiofuel website - they have downloads you can buy with different speed music to run in time to, with voiceover coaching. Or if you can wait a month or so, Laura is launching 3 podcasts in May using Audiofuel music but with her own dulcet tones overlaid - and that'll be free (I presume)!!
Also, do you have a local running club? I haven't yet joined mine, but they advertise hill training and speed training every week - the group thing might prove an encouragement.
However, if it's any consolation, having graduated a week or two ago from C25K, I can now run 5k (just!) but it takes me 45 mins. I too am a work in progress......!
I'm a really slow runner too - I ran for about 28 minutes the other day and only did 2.1 miles - but like you I AM running! As for going back to week 1 - I actually tried that yesterday as my younger daughter wanted to try running so we went back to the beginning of the podcasts. I think I was running the 60 seconds quite a bit faster than I go on the long runs and my legs were killing me! We didn't actually finish the podcast as my daughter got bored about the same time that my phone switched Laura off by accident. The only other thing that may have affected me is that I hadn't left a day in between runs as I thought it was going to be "super easy" to do week 1 again when I'm up to week 7 - it wasn't as easy as I thought!!
