Well off I trotted at 6 this morning for my run, and a new week means a new route, or rather a variation on an old theme. Laura said pick a new route, and as I strive for that then a new route it as to be.

I took the challange of the hill of Dooom and ran it easily, this was the start of the 25 minute run.

Then it was a bit of a slog to where I left the beaten track.

It was a beautiful morning today, pink skies and a bit fresh. Unfortunately as I was running, I just didn't want to stop to take a picture but maybe next time.

So I turn down a bridle way, which is where the bear hunt started. The surface was unmade and after the rain was very wet, muddy and soggy. So I tried dancing from one side of the path to the other. Then I thought what the hell am I do just go for it you big Nancy. So on I plowed, squelch squerch squelch squerch. While out bear hunting, my foot became bare!

Yes the bridleway bog had sucked my trainer off an there I was on one leg, trainer behind me, wobbling like a drunk flamingo.

So trainer retrieved and on I run. Half way feeling quite good, and then the U2 tribute bad came on the podcast, and I saw him in the distance. Another runner coming towards me, I've never had this before, running at the same time as another runner. It was all a bit exciting, and I got a little giddy.

So manning up I jogged on he towards me and as the distance got less so we strode on. As we past flick of the wrist, manly wave, grunt of acknowledgement and off I skipped like a full on fairy on acid. I had been accepted into the group, I was one of them! It was exactly like the first time I got a nod from another motorcyclist, you know when you are in the club.

Rest of the run pretty uneventful, home to family and a nappy full of poo, that's what father hood is all about.

I remember that feeling, I still feel a fraud when it happens! As a fellow runner, (and very fair weather biker, must dust off the ancient Guzzi one day soon!) I salute you! The first time I ran outdoors and realised I was going to get mud on my trainers I nearly had a fit of the vapours! I then bought myself some trail running shoes! All the gear . . . no idea! That's me!
