Treadmill running.... how fast or slow?

I returned to running yesterday after nightly knees. As the forest path is now more of a river, I used a treadmill. I'm happy that my knees felt ok. But I didnt know how to set the treadmill. I put it on a 1% gradient, and about 4.3km an hour. So a slow run. Any advice about whether that is about right? Thank you.

Pace numbers don’t matter at all-the pace that’s right for you is one where you can hold a conversation out loud without gasping. That will vary from day today due to all sorts of things. It’s best not to be fixed at running at a certain pace but to get used to adjusting as you need to. Hope that helps!

Slow and steady is the mantra, on the rare occasions that I use a treadmill I seem to set it too fast, So I now warm up at a brisk walk and then increase until I feel I have to jog, not walk, then that is the pace to maintain

Thankyou. I do prefer outdoors but not on the pavement which is the only alternative to a soggy forest. And of course I was referring to NIGGLY knees, not nightly ones but you got my drift!😂🏃‍♀️

4.3km/hour ⇒ 14min/km

That's definitely slow enough. It'd be much too slow for me to be able to run comfortably. But everyone's different.

The 5km in 30 minutes that you shouldn't try to achieve during C25K would be 10km/hour ⇒ 6min/km.

I think the above advice is spot on: start at a walking pace and increase to where you need to jog. See how that pace feels and adjust as necessary.

I will be going back to treadmill running once the icy mornings/days begin and will probably do the same thing.
