I become a negative Nelly before each run and this one being 28 minutes was tough but I did it.

Running along the canal I look out for the wildlife. Saw a couple of rats, ducks, coots and the heron. They keep me going and take my mind off the running 🏃‍♀️

Only this week and next until I graduate again and the first time for my husband who runs with me.

Have a blessed and beautiful day folks and keep running 🏃‍♀️ ❤️👍

Amazing! I know what you mean about negative nelly! Someone told me about the "Toxic 10" and it is def a thing for me - spend the first 10mins of every run thinking no way can I do it, it is way too long etc... etc... It is such a fab feeling when you finish and achieve it though :)

The toxic 10 is horrible. I think I’m toxic from start to finish lol 😂 but I feel great after the run 🏃‍♀️

I don’t think it’s uncommon for some negative thoughts to creep in before a run. It still happens to me sometimes! I think the little voice in our heads likes the lazy life and sometimes grasps the opportunity to tell us we can’t do this so that we quit. What it doesn’t know is we are runners, not quitters now.

Great job to both of you.

Yes, I certainly love the lazy life. Running had always been a dirty word 😂 but here I am again giving my all for the second time. I must be crazy 😜😂🏃‍♀️

I don’t know that crazy is essential, but it helps!

That’s brilliant, Tazzy-wazzy (and Mr Tazzy-wazzy), well done!

I think your words “was tough but I did it” are telling - I am sure you are made of much tougher stuff than, sporadically, you are giving yourself credit for. You are reaching the limit of what C25K is - it can’t get any bigger but you can, and incrementally, you are becoming a bigger runner.

Is your Negative Nelly truly your inner voice or a composite of others that you really wouldn’t like if you met them? Maybe a good ‘self talk’ book would help too - if you have never looked into it, it’s a life changer. Nobody here thinks you can’t do it, Negative Nelly is talking bilge and maybe Mr. Tazzy-wazzy as a newbie is looking to you for a glitter-sprinkling of belief (but no pressure 🙏🏼).

As a newcomer to C25K I had to trust the programme and it delivered EVERY time. You know from all past weeks that it delivers. I have begun to equate C25K as being equivalent to a swirling essence that puts all the necessary kit into the utility-pockets of an explorer with an awfully bad memory. When the explorer comes to a perceived obstacle they search their pockets and find that C25K has, to their repeated surprise, magically equipped them with precisely what they need to overcome every perceived obstacle.

You can absolutely do this, just check those pockets and watch those perceived obstacles disintegrate at the mere sight of you and Mr. Tazzy-wazzy. Happy running.

I’ve never thought of a self talk book to give me a boost. Mr Tazzy_Wazzy has his moments but we support each other when we’re flagging a little bit. We’re always happy to hear the bell halfway through. As long as we keep running steady without pushing ourselves, we’ll be ok.

Excellent, it’s great to think of you helping each other along.

Well done, you're nearly there. Know what you mean about negative Nelly, I know her well. She was in my head before every single C25K run and still makes an appearance from time to time. I'm learning to ignore her. Sounds like a fabulous route to run, enjoy your last runs before graduation 😊🏃‍♀️

If you enjoy your running, you are unlikely to feel negative about it.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Counterintuitively, it is an easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

I run very slowly and can talk to my husband on route. It’s my legs that hurt whilst running.

Strengthening exercises, as linked to in the guide, will help enormously.

Well done! I totally get the negative nelly bit, I graduated this week and I still don't think I can do it 🤣 hopefully this will go with time. Enjoy the rest of the program, not long until you graduate now 😁

Glad I’m not alone being a negative Nelly 😂 yet we still get out there and smash the run. Congratulations on your graduation 🏃‍♀️ It’s quite an achievement xx
