OMG 24 degree run in full sun 😳

Well, having walked around Berlin seeing many of the sights in 32 degree heat yesterday, I admit I was a bit worried about my run this morning.

Out I went at 7am to a bright sunny day, and walked 10 mins or so to Tempelhofer Feld. This is the vast 1920s airport from where the Allies airlifted supplies to the cut-off west Berliners for nearly a year after Germany was divided. It is now the biggest inner city recreational space in the world, with all sorts of social and sports activities and wildlife areas. There are skylarks nesting at the moment, and I saw cornfowers and thistles in abundance. What it doesn't have, though, is much in the way of shade, so to say I was like a tomato at the end of this run is no exaggeration! A salty, sweaty tomato 🍅 I'm so pleased with myself though that I finished it, that was a tough 30 min run!

The pic is of the airport building. It was built by the Nazis and is something like 5km long!!

That sounds like a superb run with loads of wildlife and interesting scenery. It’s so hard when even at 7am it’s boiling. Trying to run abroad made me appreciate the British drizzle!!!

I know! It's far harder in these temperatures. I won't diss our weather again!!

Well done! I love running when I'm away from home. So many different things to look at and different weather too - mainly sunshine 🤣 Just means we have to time our runs a little differently - also, as you say, it leaves you feeling really pleased with yourself!

I would have loved that run, hot and with birds and flowers, hope you cooled off inside after.

What a great location for a run. Apart from the heat that is. I think I might have seen a feature on it on Gardeners World a few years ago.

I enjoyed a run along some Herefordshire country lanes this weekend and it was lovely to run somewhere different, but it was windy and drizzly!

I think I prefer wind and drizzle tbh, but hey...!

What a great run! It’s lovely to run somewhere else, it feels really exotic and new doesn’t it. It’s a great way to see but not be seen 😁. And well done on braving the heat too. Thumbs up all round 😊😊😊.

Well done for running in that heat. I didn't brave it when I was in Italy visiting my family. It was just too humid in my home town. It's great this running business, literally need a pair of running shoes and you can do it anywhere in the whole wide world. 🤗
