Tight calves - any tips

I am just starting week 4 and frustrated with tight calves which meant I had to cut short the final run today.

To start with had an issue with left calve and all ok, then Sunday left calve really tight and today both tightened up during the run.

I have tried and continuing with the stretches and roller and other methods following online advice and trying to keep moving which helps, but stairs are hard and cannot run.

Not sure whether to drop back to week two and continue with shorter runs until they are in better condition.

Am generally fit, walk a lot and rock climb but guess it’s just using the muscles differently.

When my hubby had tight calves, some people have suggested they had success with trying compression socks.

Might be worth a try?

Ouch calves !!

They take a great deal of impact and straining during running, and are used intensively for propelling you forwards I'm with

CBDB definitely recommend the compression socks, and also compression sleeves!

But pay attention to those stretches and be sure to hold them

Thankyou, I will try the sleeves. I am trying to keep as mobile as possible as that seems to help, once I get past the stage of looking like I am walking on stilts.😊

Make sure you are well warmed up and there are loads of useful exercises to keep those calves feeling less tight and comfy!
