Hi everyone,

I've just joined, I've just completed day 2 of week 3 and I managed it surprisingly.

I'm hoping to shed some lbs, anyone else achieved that by doing couch to 5k?

Well done! Running won't necessarily shed weight initially, but you will notice that you will tone up and your shape might change. I didn't start running to lose weight, but noticed I lost inches off my hips once I had finished the programme and was doing longer runs. Good luck, don't expect miracles at first, but you will notice a difference!

Welcome and well done you... ! This is not a weightless programme.. but some folk do lose weight and some don't!But, linked to a healthy eating regime, this programme , is a winning combination .

Take it slow and steady and maybe pop into the Weight Loss Support forum... our sister site... many folk here, are there too and find it works really well!

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome to the community and congratulations on your progress so far.

I’d recommend you take some body measurements because you might find that those move faster than the scales. I definitely feel more toned but also fitter too.

Good luck with the rest of the programme. Keep us posted and we’ll keep on cheering you on.

Hi wham71 , my experience was similar to that of Roxdog . I didn't lose much during C25K, it was longer runs and continuing to run that made a real difference to me. I dropped about 7kg, going from BMI overweight to comfortably into normal, have kept it off, and am much fitter and more toned.

Two other things: 1, don't be tempted to eat extra because you're running. It's absolutely not necssary for C25K; you just need to ensure you're well-hydrated. 2, your weight might initially increase as you lose fat and gain muscle, so don't be disheartened if this happens.

Enjoy the programme!
