Week 8 Run 1 best run so far

I’d say this was my best run to date, I even managed to lose my focus on running and breathing, etc and get lost in my own thoughts before suddenly realising I was almost done and hadn’t even thought about what I was doing for the previous 5 minutes which was quite handy as it was the final quarter which can be the most tiring section.

I opted to lose the new trainers and wear the old ones again with the orthotic insole and it was fine, my heel was still a bit tender afterwards but with a bit of TLC hopefully I’ll get over that in a week or so. Feels great to be able to run for almost 30 minutes at dawn when no one is around and the world is just beginning to wake up.

No sunrise pic this morning, i was too early for it 🌅

Being able to use your run for head space Headspace1st is the main reason that I run. The physical benefits are a wonderful and welcome side effect, but the mental well being engendered by such a simple form of exercise are primary.

Most of my best thinking, meditating and coming to terms with my place in the universe all happen when running. I put it down to all that pumping of fully oxygenated blood.

Keep running, keep smiling.

I look forward to more opportunities to do this, amazing how the time passed almost unnoticed. I have a job interview coming up and my head was right there answering anticipated questions 😂🙏🙏

it's a wonderful feeling to get lost in the running. It hasn't happened for me very often but I hope as running becomes a habit, it does a lot more!

Me too, great way to make time disappear while gaining the benefit of physical exercise 👍🏻

Wow too early for sunrise. Sounds like you had a good run. It’s great to just get lost in your own thoughts

I think sunrise must be nearer 8am now, I was out and back by 7:30 to give time to get out to work. So glad to be enjoying this programme.

Can't beat dawn running - so nice to see the sun come up. So peaceful. I also love to be alone with my thoughts, especially if it's a work day, and that seems the best time of day for it. I keep thinking about runs later in the day as the mornings get colder but so far I haven't been tempted.

It even feels safer some how running in the darkness of pre-dawn rather than the darkness of dusk, like there’s so few people about and hopefully any trouble makers are still in their beds 😳

I started off at dawn to avoid anyone seeing me - now I find I don't want to miss that time of day.

I can understand that, I don’t like running yet if there’s people about, even at weekends if I’m running a bit later I don’t really like meeting more people up and about. I prefer to get up on the dark, wash my face, stick a hat on my bed hair and just go 🤣🤣🤣

Week 8 was my absolute favourite week! It coincided with freezing temperatures last winter and often snow. Amazing! I think, like you, it’s because at last with that distance you get “lost” in the running and your legs just take over. The best place to be! Keep going, you’re almost there x

Brilliant stuff. The mental wellbeing aspects of running are really wonderful. Nearly there with c25k. Brilliant.
