Forgive me forum, for I have sinned - it has been 1 week since my last run 🤣

I've been struggling to get out the door and start week 9. My last run was Tuesday last week. Lots of legitimate excuses, I had a cold, lost my earbuds, my fitbit died completely, rain and then tornadoes but today I was determined to finally make a start to the final week of the C25K programme.

Today was a beautiful day, cold, misty but bright, just stunning (see photo) 🌞 and the run itself went really well. Probably my best run since my original graduation run (last November!). 💪🙌 Everything seemed to click into place and 30 minutes after starting Jo was telling me I could slow down. I finally checked my (new) fitbit and I'd covered 4.6k. I think that's the furthest I've ever run in one session, so I was really chuffed with that. 🦌🦌

Here's to regraduating in style 🎓🎓 and then (more importantly) consolidating and keeping it up! Hope you're all having amazing runs. SD

Thanks I57, lovely run today. Looking forward to the next. Hoping I'll finally get to the 5k mark soon, don't mind the time, just be a real milestone.

That is a beautiful photo of a early morning sunrise, well done on the run as well. That sounds interesting, 🌪 tornado, I am not sure what would happen to me if I was at a parkrun, then there was a tornado, I might get a bit of a push around the course, even it was just a little tornado or whirlwind.

Cheers Al - it really was a beautiful morning. Yes, the tornado, I put my running kit on on Sunday morning and was aiming to get out there but the rain was really coming down so I thought I'd try and wait it out. An hour or so later and the wind really picked up (it wouldn't have been fun out there) and checking the local news it was classified as a tornado! I'm glad I stayed in and just had a leisurely breakfast! 🤣

Well done.

The week off was probably one of the reasons you had such a successful run. A good break invariably reinvigorates and rests the body.

Thank you. You could be right - I did feel pretty fresh running today. 😃

Well done! That photo is stunning 🤩.

Thanks Frenc - it was beautiful this morning - cold but the countryside was stunning. I should’ve tried to straighten up the photo before posting - it’s not always easy to get a good shot when running up a hill (I think that’s why it’s wonky)!

Great photo SD! Well done on the run, nearly a month off for me 😳 the minor thigh injury continues to niggle, started for a new company and been down south for training, weekend away with the Mrs... All excuses/reasons I've used to not run or go to the gym for all this time. Mostly though it's because I've been bone idol and can't motivate myself to get off the sofa! I think il have to actually step back on the scales, that usually shocks me back into action 😂

Hope everybody is well, I've been a non attender on here lately too 🤦🏼‍♂️

I thought you’d gone quiet. 🤐 Sorry to hear you’ve had some injuries but hopefully you’re over them and coming back onto the forum will be the push to get yourself back out there. Otherwise I’ll send coach Dyre round 👊I also need the old team gazelle to keep me motivated and on track 🦌🦌

Coach Dyer may be what I need right now 🤣 I may see if he can drag me out of bed in the morning, test the leg out. No work for rest of week so need to take advantage.

Stunning photo, the rest probably did you some good sounds like you had a good run.

Thanks Poppdog - I think the longer rest since my last run may have helped, I was worried it might be a hindrance and I would lose fitness!

Well done for getting back to week 9- these runs were my favourite as you know you’ve nearly made it. Great picture-no such scenic views on my city runs, I should run after work really as that’s in a nice little village next to a small river- scenic but the track is a bit of an ankle breaker when you’re not used to it. Might get out for a run tomorrow night- just so tired after being at work- my Garmin said nearly 16,000 steps today and that’s even without a run- no wonder I’m tired! Good luck for the next couple of runs 👍🏻🦌

Thanks Bambi - great to hear from you. I love running the country trails near where I live, the scenery and wildlife makes it a lovely experience. Can be a little open to the weather conditions though (glad I stayed home on Sunday)! 🌧🌪

I'll imagine your job can be exhausting - I know many teachers and they all say the same thing - hopefully you got to recharge the batteries a little last week during half term. 👍 I'm sat at my desk at home, all day everyday still.

How far and often are you running now?

Bambi2020 profile image
Bambi2020Graduate in reply to StoneDragon

Trying to get at least 2 runs in but often keeping them 5-6km haven’t done a long one in ages- was upto 12km at one point so will need to build it back up again bit by bit

StoneDragon profile image

I think if you're managing a 5-6km twice a week, thats pretty good going. I hope to be doing that the other side of Christmas. I will try and build up to a 10k but I have no massive aspirations other than keep at at and enjoy it 👍🦌

Just found all your posts. Brilliant that you’re back on c25k and rebuilding your running. Extra so when things click into place. That’s one amazing view you had for this run. Very best wishes for the final week of your plan.🦌🦌🦌
