First run after 3 weeks off...

Hi,

I have to write a post to celebrate getting back out after 3 weeks of really no exercise at all, following a really bad back after my last 4 k run...

I was ok to give it a go last week, but life, gremlins, rain and dark just kept getting in the way... However, I know only too well how hard it is to get going again if too much time passes, so I decided today really was the day! So autumn sun shining, not many folk about, harvest is all gathered on the fields, brambles, red berries and orange leaves everywhere you look - what’s not to like about getting out and giving it a try? So off I went with the headphones and my best ‘ Nancy shuffle’ to take it very easy and see if I was ok with my default minimum20 minute run. I wasn’t exactly full of the joys by the end but I managed ok. Runkeeper went on strike and told me I only ran 1k... that’s honestly not true!!!!

Now to see how my back feels tomorrow. Must remember to keep stretching. Fingers crossed!

Oh well done on getting back out there! I’m really pleased for you, and it sounds like a great run - I agree, everything looks lovely at the moment. Tech can be very naughty sometimes! I hope your back is ok and here’s to your next run 🏃‍♀️ 😊.

Hi, well done for getting back out there! I'm not sure I'd be able to motivate myself after 3 weeks 🤭 so well done again. I've still to try a slow 5k, well slower 5k 😆 I'm sure I'll be overtaken by slugs if I go any slower! 😉. Hope you're back is ok tomorrow .

Thank you. I too could give slugs a run for their money. It’s all relative though. I keep telling myself the important thing is to be out in the fresh air doing something that makes me feel at least a little bit active.

This is so true! 10 minutes outside running is 10 minutes less on the sofa! 😉

Amazing! I did my first run after four weeks off yesterday and I felt so much better afterwards. I totally get what you mean about life and gremlins getting in the way. I hope your back is ok today 😀👏

The back was a bit stiff but relieved to say nothing too bad. Hopefully we can both try again in a couple of days.

I’ve also not run for about 3 weeks after bad cold. You’ve inspired me to give it a go tomorrow👍

Go for it. The longer you leave it, the harder it gets....
